Although the number of MBAs in pharma, healthcare, and biotech is smaller than in other sectors, these industries are appealing for those who either have a passion for health sciences or want to be involved in improving others’ quality of life. Relatively higher salaries in these industries is also a draw.
We used 2015 employment information to rank top business schools on a key factor – one likely of interest to those seeking health-related careers: the percentage of graduates who enter these industries. Most schools report employment numbers for the three industries as a single figure, so our list does so as well.
Rutgers takes first place with 32% of 2015 MBAs employed in pharma, healthcare, and biotech, due to its proximity to such companies as Johnson & Johnson, Merck, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. In second place is Boston University with 24%; B.U. is located near the best hospitals in the world as well as the growing biotech industry in Cambridge, MA.
