We’ve been using SensorTower now for a while and are very enthustiac about the service as it helps us to track our performance worldwide.
We use it mainly for keeping track of how our apps are ranking in the iTunes Appstore on the keywords that are most relevant for our product. For example: we like to rank high on the keyword “GMAT”. So if people are searching for “GMAT” we want them to find our app. This can be compared to wanting your website to be found on Google.com. Just like with Google, Apple’s appstore algorythm is part known and part mystery. The title, keywords, appstore reviews and download numbers all influence you appstore ranking, but there are more factors to be considered. Using SensorTower we can track how we rank for the different keywords in different countries without having to have an iTunes account in those countries. This helps us to optimize our app and marketing efforts. See for example the graph on the right.
SensorTower also helped us to optimize our mix of keywords. It tells you how to optimize your keywords list and lets you see the keywords of competitors for ideas. Although we only used that once, we still found it very useful.
Other things like tracking appstore ranking worldwide and overview of downloads can be found in SensorTower, but are not as good as in a free service like AppAnnie.
We are interested to hear your opinion on SensorTower and/or other tools that you know that track keyword ranking in different countries.
